So i using windows 7 here, i have 3 partitions on this 1TB drive and i when i checked the primary and the second extended partition it doesn't take too long to check both on of them. But when i check the third, the checking process was too slow on stage 4 of 5 (verifying file data). I've read that the chkdsk takes longer the bigger the drive's capacity, but here i only check one particular partition.

Should i keep the process running? If i format this partition will it solve the problem? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Solution
I would leave it running as long as doing so is viable. Viable being purely subjective....

At some point, stop it all and then format the partition.

May or may not resolve some issues.

I tend to favor the diagnostic software provided by the drive's manufacturer.

If chkdsk does not provide what you need then run the diagnostic software.
