I came home to my computer not turning on properly. The fan went on for a second and then turned off.

After some troubleshooting, I discovered whenever I had my graphics card in, it would not boot. I even let my PC run for a bit and then put the card in. Instantly shut off. Not a problem with PSU as it has more than enough wattage.

Do I need to get a new card, or should I try some other possible solutions? Please help!

GPU - GTX 970
CPU - i7 7700k
Motherboard - MSI B150A Gaming Pro
PSU - 750w

Do you have family or friends with a PC you can use to test things on? The only way to know for sure if it's the card, is to try it in a different computer and see if it does the same to it. To me, it sounds more like a bad PSU, but again you would need to try a different PSU to know for sure.

I can tell you this, installing components while your computer is running is a good way to kill both that component and your motherboard, and possibly the CPU too, it's not a smart thing to do.

I used a spare motherboard and PSU to try this and I got the same result. Also thanks, I will not try it while it's running again!
