Hello,

Motherboard model (I think it's relevant): Intel desktop D945PPR D9456GPR It's pretty old

Recently one of my father's older computers failed to start due to a CMOS battery failure/checksum error upon bootup. After going into the BIOS I realize the computer did not recognize a single SATA port therefore the hard drive wasn't found so it wouldn't boot. I figured the BIOS settings kept clearing due to the lack of a cmos battery so I attempted to install a new one and now it still doesn't recognize the new cmos battery and the BIOS unsurprisingly still doesn't see the hard drive. I figured I installed the battery incorrectly so I tried reinstalling it several times and still nothing. Perhaps my motherboard model doesn't use the standard CR2032 battery? I'm not sure but it's pretty unlikely. At this point I'm pretty stumped as to what to do and I'm starting to think that the cmos battery has nothing to do with the BIOS being unable to see the SATA ports. Sorry for the noobishness but I never dealt with a cmos battery failure before and this is an older build as well.

I'd appreciate if someone replied with a general idea of what to do or where do look, I don't expect any detailed answers due to how old this build is and how vague the problem is but any help is greatly appreciated.
