Cat 5e speed issues with cable I built

I just put together an Ethernet cable mainly to test, but I also had a use for it. It is currently only getting a link speed of 100 Mbps, I've tested different cables and I know for sure that the cable I built is the issue. It is a cat 5e cable which means it is rated for 1 gbps. My home internet speed is the FiOS gigabit internet yet for some reason I keep getting 100 Mbps with this cable. Does anyone know what the issue could be?

Solution
It only takes 1 wire to be making partial contact and it either completely fail or only work at 100m. It takes lots of practice to make cables and even professionals make bad ones from time to time. This is why most commercial cables are tested with special testing meters.

You have little option other than to blindly cut off and reterminate the cable. There generally is no way to tell which end is bad just by looking at it.

Solution
100Mbps only requires 4 wires (1, 2, 3 and 6), while gigabit requires all 8. Look carefully at the contacts as the ends can have one fall out before crimping (if so, get one from a spare unused RJ45 end and crimp it in). If you can't see anything wrong then do as bill001g says and replace one random end, then test again. If it still doesn't work then do the other end.
