Will this build run game engines, editing software and games?

Greetings,

here's my situation in a nutshell: I am a gamedev who's looking for components to build a workstation PC that will run game engines (Unity, Unreal), perhaps some other editing software, and an occasional AAA game (with high grapgical settings). I will build a dual monitor setup with a 60Hz QHD IPS panel (most likely BenQ PD2700Q) and a 144Hz Full HD TN panel (still haven't decided which one, but will buy used from somewhere).

Here are the components I've been recommended:

Notes: The tower case I've been recommended is Fractral Design Define R4 and the wireless internet is this one. I've also upgraded the 128GB SSD to a 256GB SSD of the same manufacturer. The prices are in EUR and from mindfactory.de online store.

So the question is: Will this build get me going well? Are there any changes that I should make? Is it an overkill or are there any budget parts I should change? How about the BenQ monitor -- are there any better QHD monitors within the same price range (below 400EUR)?

IMO, 1700X not worth the money, 1700 is enough. MB overkill, are you going to crossfire/SLI in the future? If not, B350 is enough. No SSD? 1440p and 60 Hz -> gtx 1070 is enough. PSU not very good. What is the total budget including two monitors in euro?

Thank you for the swift reply. Budget for the components is around ~1600€, where the cost currently sits. I forgot to mention about the CPU that I might overclock it in the future, so 50€ more fore the 1700X would perhaps be preferable in my situation? No plans for multiple GPUs, so I guess I could save ~50€ by getting the B350. Is it not an SSD (it says so in the picture on the site: https://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/256GB-Intenso-3812440-2-5Zoll--6-4cm--SATA-6Gb-s-MLC--3812440-_813115.html)? What benefit I would get in my situation by choosing the GTX 1080 over the GTX 1070? Are there any better PSUs somewhere within the same price range? For the IPS monitor the budget is below 400€ (I can get the BenQ for around 380€), but the TN monitor is not included in the budget as I will buy it in the future.

That is an SSD, never heard of the brand, my bad :) For 1080p gaming, 1080 and 1070 has no diff. 1700 can be easily OCed to be 1700X with stock cooler. Best SSD, Best PSU with the price range, keep 1080, good case: .

You can replace 1700 with 1700X if you want :)

Recommend this monitor: https://de.pcpartpicker.com/product/YZn2FT/benq-monitor-gw2765ht
IPS is better than TN.

Thank you for the suggestions. I might consider 1700 over the 1700X for my build, and will definetely change the MB to B350. For SSD, what are the benefits for choosing a bit more expensive Samsung over the original Itenso (or is it just the brand?)? Would it be preferable to choose the same brand for the SSD and HDD (as in the original build)? BenQ GW2765HT monitor seems to have complaints about DisplayPort connection and dead pixels, so I will proably choose PD2700Q instead.

That Samsung one is a nvme drive with read speeds of upto 2500mb/s as compared to 550mb/s on a typical sata based one.
U can overclock the 1700 to 3.9ghz easy with the stock cooler. So don't bother with the 1700X.
What about the LG ips ultrawide monitors? They are great for productivity and content creation!

The Samsung SSD's specs do seem a little better, so I'll probably choose that one over the Intenso. The LG monitors seem nice, but somewhat different than what I've been looking. The biggest question for me is the decision between GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 as I don't exactly undesrtand the difference between their performance in my build. But as the GTX 1080 is only less than 100€ more expensive as the GTX 1070, so I might as well use the money saved on other parts to get the better GTX 1080.
