Overclock returning to Stock?

6700K
Asus Maximus VIII Hero
Zalman CNPS 9900Max

Hey..
So I have a question once again.
Yesterday I did some overclocking on my Cpu. After realizing that I didnt win the Sillicon Lottery I settled for the 4.5Ghz modifying the TPU section on the Asus Dual Intelligent Processors software. I managed to get about 1.280v and could still test lower on Aida 64. But I was just using the Cpu stress test. Once I activated all the tests except GPU and HDD I had to increase the voltage to 1.310 to manage to successfully stress test for an Hour. So far so good. Left it at that.
Today I turned on my Pc and realized that it was back at stock speed. Wth?!
Does the Asus Software not save the settings?
Isnt it supposed to keep the settings when I start my computer? Or do I have to go to the Uefi myself and save the settings?

Solution
Asus is semi-famous for glitches like that. However it generally means your OC failed on start up. I'd suggest lower settings.
I only tinkered with the Asus Software. And tested with Aida64 while using HWMonitor to check temps.
But the test was ok and the computer was running perfectly afterwards at 4.5Ghz.
So if the UEFI thinks that at Boot it is too OCed it lowers back to Stock? Even if I go there now and change the values directly on the Uefi and reboot?

If you are pushing it to the limit where it re-sets you should probably backoff the OC a bit. I've seen this very thing with an ASUS 2011v3 board that would not hold its OC settings for more than 1-2 cold boots (in this case the problem was resolved by getting an MSI). But it is just as likely that the other hardware is giving you the error. Either way, backing off the OC seems the prudent thing.
