I am currently torn by the Intel Pentium G4560/G600 (based on availability) and the Intel Core i3-7100. The price range of the three are okay with me so should I go for the i3 or the G4560? Help!

Solution
Price wise a G4560 is about the same price as a G4600 and G4620 on PCpartpicker in the US. Of those I would buy a G4620 which works at 3.7Ghz. The i3-7100 costs less than $15 extra but bumps speed up to 3.9Ghz and adds Turbo Boost up to 4.5Ghz. Considering it's only about $15. I think it is well worth the small cost increase. These price comparisons all depend on your local costs.

While the i3-8100 is a good price. While higher quality, the motherboards are much more expensive and will continue to be until they start releasing H310, B360 and H370 chipsets. Considering total cost it would make a great alternative to the i5-7500. Since you can get a much higher quality motherboard for the same total cost.

If you're considering the i3 7100, you're much better off getting the i3-8100. You get a quad core instead of a dual core for about the same price. They may be sold out/unavailable right now depending where you live, but it shouldn't be long before they're (back) in stock.

i3's don't have turbo boost. The i3-7100 has a max clock of 3.9 GHz, no more.

You make a good point about the motherboard for the i3 8100 being more expensive (for now) though.

For some reason I thought that Turbo Boost was only a feature the Pentium lacked to differentiate it from the i3 once they added hyperthreading. I got the Turbo Boost numbers off of Neweggs overview. Looking at it. For some reason they are talking about an i7-7700K when they are selling an i3.
