I just built my first pc a while ago and I'm looking to upgrade the cpu and gpu in the coming months but can ONLY do one at a time because of financial reasons. I got a core i3 7100, gtx 1050 ti, 500w psu, 16gb ram. I'm looking to get a gtx 1070 or 1060 6gb and an i7 7700(non k). Should I go for the gpu or cpu upgrade first for the best gaming results?

Solution
I believe a 1060 6gb should be more than up to the task for 1080p at 60fps - at least in terms of video cards.

Battlefront 2 lists the 1060 3gb as the Recommended level of video card, though I'd still go for the 6gb. For CPU on the Intel side the page I'm looking at says i5-6600k as minimum, and i7-6700 as recommended.

Given that, specifically for this game, it seems like upgrading the CPU first is the way to go - your 1050Ti comes in between their recommended and their minimum requirements.

I'll leave it to people who've got a bit more experience with that game in particular to confirm or not, as I'm sort of relying on a little guesswork here.

If you run vsync (I am obsessive and always do, because I hate tearing), then the 1050Ti might already be sufficient, but the 1060 will definitely be more than enough.

But, this also leads me to ask, is anything currently falling short? Do you need to upgrade at all?
