Hey guys, my computer's motherboard recently failed and I am getting a new one installed as well as a new CPU.

The motherboard recommended to me was the GIGABYTE AORUS X299 Gaming 3 (rev 1.0)

And the processor recommended is the Intel i7 7800x 6 core 3.5 ghz.

Looks like total price would be $628 for both the motherboard and the CPU.

but do you think this is the best choice for me? I will be doing live streaming from the computer as well as some video rendering and PC gaming. I already have the 980 geforce graphics card so that's all good to go.

Thanks again for your help!

Solution
Nothing is future proof, they may stop using LGA2066 as well. But coffee lake is the first 6 core Intel, best of best right now.

Ok thanks for the help, definitely some useful comparison there. I did some digging and noticed a difference in the socket type. The motherboard you recommended uses LGA1151 and the one my repair guy recommended uses LGA2066. I've heard LGA2066 is more "future proof" for upcoming CPU upgrades. Is it really worth getting LGA2066 motherboard as well as LGA2066 CPU?

What do you think?

Thanks again for the help!
