I have an external hard drive from my last laptop which will not boot (motherboard fried). I'd like to access the windows product key before I format it to use as an external drive. Is there a way to access bios information (oem key) on a harddrive in this way? I'm using a SATA usb adapter.

Are there any other recommended things I should backup? I've retrieved my old appdata and personal files/documents from it.
