A friend of mine recently gave me a HP Pavilion P7-1446S after he upgraded to something else. He kept the PSU, disk drive and HDD. When I got it, I put in a 520w PSU and a HDD in it. The computer started up, but then halted on post giving me 6 long beeps while the power light changed to amber. So I tried a couple things, including: Swapping the PSU, changing the RAM, and re-seating the CPU. I narrowed it down to either the CPU or the mother board.
If you have any idea which of these could be the problem or if it's something else, your information will help.
Thanks in advance.

Solution
Funnily enough, the 6 long beeps on HP mobo's seem to indicate an issue with the GPU. Are you using an oboard GPU, or discrete. If discrete check it's seated properly and has the right power cables in. Also what PSU you did you put in. Make/Model?

Thank you! I saw your reply and found out it was an issue with the PCI-E x16 slot. I cleaned it out and it worked perfectly!
The computer is up and working fine now, Thanks!(again)
