Hi. Recently I got a new MOB to crossfire.
Bowth cards are detected but no option to crossfire.
Solutions?
Mob:MSI z87 Fatal1ty Profesional
GPU1:R9 280x Toxic Sapphire
GPU2:R9 270 Windforce Gigabyte
PSU: 650W

Solution
Because those two are not compatible. AMD is less strict with CF than nvidia SLI but with CF ylu still need GPU with the same chip inside. You can pair 280X with 280 but not 270. The 280s is based on tahiti chip while the 270s is based on pitcairn chip.

The 280x Toxic and the Vapor x are power hogs, pulling as much as some 290s and 290Xs.

Just for the cards alone you are looking at ~550-600w of power consumption under load(with a stress test like furmark likely pulling more than that) . You are going to need a atleast a top quality 750w PSU, but I suggest going for a 850w unit.

Depending on the cost of another 280x and the PSU you may just be better off getting a single faster card like a 6Gb 1060 or RX 580(or 480) especially with the support of SLI and Crossfire waning in newer games. The cost of a single faster card can also be displaced by selling the old 280x as the resell value in many areas isn't to bad due to miners buying them.

Yeah going for single faster gpu is always the better choice. Might be a bit expensive than adding second card for multi gpu but the money spend will be well worth it. Remember multi gpu need specific optimization to take advantage of. No such hassle on single gpu setup.

I want to do that because... When I play games, at 60 fps or more, it dose not feel that smooth...a litte stuttering. And I dont have another option :'(
