usb dvd rom not downloading games

I bought a usb dvd rom for my desktop it has no built in cd rom. The game gives an error when downloading the first disc of gta 5 cyclic redundancy check. I also tested it on my laptops cd rom which it worked. Can someone shed some light on why it isn't working or on better products for downloading the game. much appreciated.

so you have a game on a usb drive, you try to install it on a desktop and you get a CRC error on one the files when trying to install it, but when you install it on another computer the install works properly ?

odd issue to be honest, but my first shot in the dark on this issue would be, the desktop and other pc you tried the usb on, did you try on both omn the same type of usb i.e. 2.0(black tip) or 3.0 (blue tip) . and have you tried on another usb on your desktop ?

CRC means a file/surface is corrupted, either it is or the os thinks it is, so are both computers running on the same operating and version ? i.e. Windows XP 32 bit?

No it doesn't work with both pcs I just used my laptops built in PC and the disc works fine but not on this DVD drive.

if your desktop cdrom drive isn't able to read the dvd you have maybe the problem is the desktop cdrom is in need to be changed.

If you are getting a CRC error when installing (not downloading) GTA 5 using the USB DVD drive you recently bought, but you can install the game on you laptop with the laptop's DVD drive, then that means the problem is with the USB DVD drive that you bought.

You should return it for a refund and either buy the same DVD drive (the 1st one could have been defective) or buy a different brand USB DVD drive.
