Hi

I'm getting a new laptop from a reseller soon (Gigabyte Aero 15x)

The specs are

7th Generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ Quad Core Processor
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Max-Q w/ 8GB GDDR5
16GB (1 x 16GB) DDR4/2400MHz
Samsung SM961 500gb SSD

AND, I have some options to go with. I can... either

1)add 2666 Mhz Ripjaw 2x8 ($155) or 2x16($275) or 1x16 ($100) or

2)add a matching 16gb 2400 MHz of factory RAM. (total of 32Gb, $135 << cheaper than 2x8Gb Ripjaw)

3) stay untouched and go with the single factory 16Gb 2400 Mhz RAM ($0)

At first I chose to add a extra matching RAM to to make it 32Gb is a future-proof,

but, I really don't see myself utilizing 32Gb

so wanted to go with untouched 16Gb, but having a single channel RAM seemed kinda annoying.

Some youtubers, like Linus tech tip, say if there is a good amount of memory in the GPU,

(this case the 1070 Max Q, 8Gb), I don't really need to go dual channel.

So, maybe in my case, staying untouched and go with single 16gb ram is good enough?

Adding Ripjaw RAMs will cost me from $150-$280 and adding a matching RAM costs ~$135

If I don't need the RAM upgrade, I'd rather spend the money to build faster and ship it faster.

Please let me know if you think a single16Gb RAM is good for my new laptop or have any advice.

I play some games but don't do 4k video editing or extensive photo editing or highly sophisticated illustrations.

Thanks!

K

Would you go for 2 x 8Gb ($155) over 2x 16Gb ($135)?

sry, I should have mentioned that the option 2 is cheaper than option 1.
