i7 7350k kabylake good for gaming

Solution

it was answered in the fourth repsonse. Either way it's no probs. If your still unsure ask away.

The i3 7350k is not a bad budget gaming chip. Look here: https://www.anandtech.com/show/11083/the-intel-core-i3-7350k-60w-review/9 and you can roughly see where it stands to the 7600k which was mentioned in your thread from yesterday.

You seem to be on a budget, so if the i3 7350k suits that budget, then go with it. You've explained how difficult it is to get value in Australia, so the 7600/7700k although the better chips for your mobo, the I3 will still get you playing games. Maybe not at the highest level, but still decent enough.

The reason why everyone is...
not really mate. intels coffee lake is coming (they offically launched it this month but as yet there are very few chips about) and it has 4 true cores at the lower end. so if you can wait a while for stock to turn up, that would be the wise choice.
if you cant wait then ryzen 3 or 5 would be my choice as they just offer more for the money especially if you do other things than just gaming.

are the i5's worth it for gaming?
and are the coffee lakes 1151

Coffee lake is on lga 1151 but wont work with anything else than z370 motherboards right now.
The kaby lake i5s are still ok for gaming but you can find used kaby- and sky lake i7s for the same price and those will be much better.

If you also need the motherboard then why not go for the Ryzen 1600 with a b350 board? it's very good value right now and outperforms all kaby lake i5s

you asked some of these questions in another post yesterday, and got the answers. Why asking again? e.g Coffee Lake on 1151, which is a good chip for $250.

The answers aren't really gonna change that much:)

The reason why everyone is suggesting the 7600/7700 is that they are true 4 cores (the 7700 having 8 threads). The i3 is a 2c/4t part. The 7600 and 7700 give much better performance. It's really about what you need. Read the article i linked. You can see the I3 7350k performance and judge if it's good enough for your needs. Otherwise for better gaming performance the advise would be to go with a true 4 core CPU with or without HT. It will serve you better and for longer. Games are becoming more resource hungry and only going one direction. So the better CPU you have now, will yield better results down the line.

Yep, it can be very confusing to beginners why they can't use a lga1151 cpu on a lga1151 motherboard
