Do I have to update my bios every time I format my PC?

Nope, BIOS is secured in MB and formatting only affects your HDD/SSD.

No. BIOS updates are stored directly on board's chip, so nothing (short of removing BIOS chip) can force you to update again.

Formatting is done to drives such as SSDs, hard drives, diskettes etc. Does not affect your BIOS.
