RX 580 vs GTX 1070 (144hz 1080p) PLEZ HELP

Hello!

I want to build a new pc and Im between

an rx580 8gb(400e)
or
a 1070 8gb(470e)

Im also buying a new 1080p 144hz - freesync monitor

g-sync monitors and vega gpus are out of the question because they are expensive.

I really dont want to wait for any price drops, release of a 1070ti etc, i need a new pc!

Even if I get a 1070 does it really matter that i wont be able to use freesync?

specs:
ryzen 1600 cpu
16gb ram
b350 mobo

  1. They are similar, 1070 better for 2k. With Gsync so expensive, RX580 is the wise choice here :) You can sell and get a Vega when the price comes down in the future :)
  2. The 1070 is significantly stronger, the 580 closely matches the 1060 rather than the 1070 https://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1941?vs=1942

I'd go 1070 as its better suited to high fps gaming, the 580 & 1060 are better suited to 1080p 60Hz. However if g-sync isn't an option then there is no point getting a freesync monitor but if its the same price as non freesync monitors then why not.

Cheapest 144hz monitor in my country is this one (regardless of non freesync)

More reason to stay with RX and Vega. You don't have to play everything ultra I think, most games are good at very high with RX 580.
