Hey everyone, so i have my ryzen 5 1600 + 1060 3gb, but i want to buy a 1080 ti but don't know if my psu can handle it. PSU: Cooler Master 550w 80+plus gold full modular.

Build Parts:
r5 1600 (stock speeds, stock cooler)
16gb ram
asus b350 plus
1 ssd, 2 hdd's
4 fans (1 120mm, 3 140 mm)
gtx1060 3gb

I won't overclock neither the cpu nor the gpu. Should i buy a 1080ti or a 1080?

Solution
He said what PSU he has, the only Gold fully modular 550W PSUs Cooler Master makes to my knowledge are the V550 and we know they are very good.

Unless you can think of another Gold 550W fully modular Cooler Master.

I'll use my TV, not planning on gaming or whatever, just want to use the 1080ti for 3d rendering

Will still work the card.

550W is under recommended for a 1080Ti, some pull a lot more power than others too so it depends on what you actually get.

I would recommend getting a GTX 1080 unless you want to buy a new PSU also.

550W is perfectly fine for a 1080Ti. His system won't go past 400W under heavy load, gaming should be around 350W I suspect.

Yes but that the depends on the quality of his PSU. If it is one of the low end crap quality units it's probably not enough.

The 550w "recommended" already takes into account high power usage systems with low quality PSUs, that's why their recommendations are usually so high.

550w is more than enough for this build.
