Hello, I have an i5 3470, gtx 780, and I play on 1080p .. and I realized that I wanted to step this up and buy a new 1440p monitor. Now I know there's 144hz 1440p monitors and every gpu that I'll buy won't be enough for that because of the bottleneck.
But if let's say I buy a gtx 1070 or wait for the next Volta series , get a 1440p 60hz monitor, will I be able to push above 60 fps on most games? Or at least a rock solid 50? Is my CPU enough for that?

Thanks alot.

Well all I can say is I haven't experienced this with my 1440p 60hz monitor. Go for it dude and enjoy your gaming. A 1070 is a pretty kick ass card. Love it and do it my friend. Enjoy.:na:
I don't know about a fix as I've NEVER experienced it. Go for it dude!

Not sure about that as I have a 1440p 60hz monitor paired with a GTX1080 and couldn't maintain 60fps maxed on all my games. Note I only had 2x AA on as well but it did struggle on parts of GTAV and REALLY struggled with Tom Clancy Ghost Recon Wildlands. I have since upgraded to an GTX1080Ti and this DOES give 60fps in just about everything.

OP, your CPU is getting old and think would bottleneck a 1080 so you may well struggle with a 1070Ti, I would go 1070 personally.

Well it will, you will just have to compromise on some settings on a FEW games. Don't be despondent it's still a great card and will perform nicely.:wahoo:

Thanks for the answers.
I have one last question , which is about screen tearing.
I myself never experienced screen tearing , I saw on the forums that it's happening on 1440p or above monitors..
Also will I experience lag with 60hz?
So if I'm getting this upgrade, will I experience screen tearing? If I do , is there anyway to fix it?

Thanks again.
