I got a GTX 1060 6GB but I figured out my AMD FX 6300 is not a good CPU for it. I want to upgrade next year but I don't know what I should get and what I need to upgrade. My budget is pretty high so you dont have to go cheap.
Mobo : ASRock 980DE3/U3S3
Memory : DDR3 8GB (1 Stick)
GPU : GTX 1060 6GB by Gigabyte
HDD : 1TB
Also I have the stock AMD cooler. What do I need to upgrade and what can I keep?

Solution

If your not building for 12 months then do not decide on the parts now. The next gen CPUs are usually the same price. So you just get more performance for the same price. AMD will be releasing Zen+ next year and Intel is talking about an 8 core chip. Ice Lake and Cannon Lake may be released in Q4 of next year as well. So You really should wait till the end of summer in 2018 and see what is...
The issue you have is that you will need an entire new platform for a new CPU. That means you will need a new CPU/RAM/Motherboard. Do not get anything for the AM3 platform as it is dead. So cost may become an issue.

Intel just released coffee lake and it is a really good time to get a CPU. I would go with the 8600k. I left the CPU cooler off as I dont know your case and what it would support. If this setup is too expensive, then I would look at the i5 8400 and get a H370 motherboard when they are released next year.

Yeah but I want to find the parts now. I won't be get anything too strong obviously so It wont matter if something new comes.

Then I think my Ryzen 1600 build suits you better :)

Why build the 1600 when the i5 8400 beats it in gaming and is cheaper?
