losing connection to internet

I can't stay connected to internet. as going to buy better router than spectrum supplied but thought I would ask in case it's possibly something other causing than the router. My Mac is connected to router by USB so? suggestions?

Question from designdiva : "wireless configuration issues"

was reading thread about losing internet connection. I lose mine constantly. It stated should be wireless or USB but ot both. have set to wireless router but the mac is connected to router by USB as well. Is this a conflict?
