Hi all -
My sons birthday is in a few weeks, he wants a PC that can run Minectaft, Roblox and the sorts.

Been doing some research and so far came up with;
- Intel Q6600 Quad Core Processor
- GT 710 2GB
- 8GB RAM
- 1TB HDD

Was wondering if this would be okay for it’s use? Thanks in advance :??: :)

Solution
i had ddr5 gt 730 for a while and its impossible to play anything on that, 710 would be even worse. 650ti/750ti will be a lot (A LOT) better.

Maybe you can afford something like i3-2100, gtx 1050 and 8gb ram? its pretty much what i have now (2120 and 6gb ram), very cheap and really good for the price.

I'll be buying pre-built, I couldn't ever build a PC or trust myself to.

We're on a pretty tight budget right now, around £340 for everything incl. monitor, but I've done some more research and I can get

- Core 2 Quad Q8300
- GTX 750 Ti
- 8GB RAM

I still don't really know if this will be good for his gaming, but now you know my budget if there are any reccomendations I would really appreciate :)

Hi, thank you for the reccomendations.

Just checked, I can get that exact PC with 8GB RAM for £314.99, but it also only leaves me with £25 for a monitor. I know I'll be able to find a cheap Dell 19" TFT for that, but that would just be pretty crappy for the PC, so I'll probably have to get some more money for a nicer monitor. Can I ask what sort of frame rates you get on any games you play? If you have Minecraft, any for that? *Sorry if that's a lot to ask for :)

Ive only played Far Cry 4 and Rise of Tomb Raider, i got that 1050 a week ago, had 650ti before. Both are very playable on full hd with high settings, RoTRs benchmark shows around 55 fps, in game id say its about 50-70. About the same for Far Cry. Dont know how it translates to Minecraft, ive never played it.
From experience with q8300 and 650ti, its worth paying a little more.

I did a little math, where i live:

ASUS P8H61-M LX2 new
GIGABYTE GEFORCE GTX 1050 new
Intel Core i3-2100 used
2x DDR3 4GB ram used
BE QUIET! 450W PSU new
WD Blue 500GB used
SilentiumPC Regnum RG1 case new
22 inch LG IPS monitor used

would be 360£ total, but i guess prices can be much different in other countries

I'll be buying pre-built, I'll have the i3-2100 and gtx 1050 + 8GB Ram, but won't they bottleneck each other on some games?

Wouldnt it be much cheaper to build it yourself? Its really not difficult, its like lego pretty much, just dont do it on a carpet :)

According to everyone i aksed, i3 wont bottleneck 1050. I wanted to buy i5 2400 first but everywhere i looked and asked, people said i3 will be fine in games. So ill get ssd first, probably more ram too and than think about upgrading cpu. 8gb ram is enough for that system and 1080p gaming in general, maybe not in ultra settings but for medium/high will be perefctly fine.

I know it would probably be a lot cheaper, but I've never done it so I don't want to waste £350+ on something that might not end up working because of a stupid mistake I've made haha.

But thanks for your help, I'm trying to see if anywhere does a pre-built with the i5-2400 to make it slightly more futureproof, but other than that I'm taking all of your suggestions on board. Thank you! :)
