So, the equivalent of this product is going to get upgraded quite a bit.

Essentially, I need to move some of the contents from the computer into a larger case. The purpose is to provide room for a taxing GPU while also supplying a better PSU which I haven't quite nailed but don't figure it a problem. I'm currently in possession of the GPU, but held restraint on buying the case and PSU until I got some second opinions. I'd imagine this would need a new motherboard as well, but I'm also concerned upon compatibility. The current baseline is pretty flexable.

I can change just about everything except the GPU; but I would heavily prefer to keep things like RAM, WiFi-card, and whatnot the same. If I can't, its fine, but i'm supposed to keep this as minimal as possible on cost here considering the amount of money going to be thrown around isn't anything to shrug off. I can try to find some more in detail specs about the 3650 if needed, including basic .nfo files or whatever.

Is this going to be possible within reasonable changes of original plan? Thanks in advance.

Right if you want to keep the DDR3 ram that motherboard I linked would be your only choice.

If you wanted to go DDR4 any Skylake or kabylake board would work. There is no benefit to going 4x4, 2x8 is what you want.

This board is a good deal right now on sale

If you have a budget over $100.

Lucky for you I have experience with this system with another user.

Unfortunately for you I do not have good news, that motherboard is not going to work in a new case for two reasons. One is that the holes do not line up to any standard. Second is that the PSU connection is proprietary. SO you're going to need to budget for a new motherboard. Your CPU will work in any Skylake or Kabylake motherboard, however if you want to keep the ram you need a DDR3 board which are somewhat rare these days. In fact the only thing newegg has under $100 is this

Its actually a very good board, and has a slot you can install your Wifi card in addition to room for the GPU you got. This is your best bet.

Alright, thanks. So that motherboard is if I want to just keep the DDR3 RAM and then get the PSU, right? Lets say I also wanted to buy newer RAM (16gb DDR4 in 2x8 or 4x4), what would be a good one? Sorry I'm asking such broad questions, but I don't want to mess this up. I have a USB AC WiFi adapter, so the compatibility with a WiFi card won't be an issue. Thanks.

Hi. I decided to get the better motherboard you sent, the one that will also require me new RAM as well. I'm not familiar with motherboards at all, or how I know whether or not a PSU or ram stick is compatible with it. Any tips / suggestions?

Sure, so basically any PSU is compatible, its more about getting the correct wattage.

my suggestions:

PSU https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151189&cm_re=seasonic_focus-_-17-151-189-_-Product

RAM https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232242&cm_re=ddr4_2133-_-20-232-242-_-Product

I like these

Keep in mind you MIGHT not be able to run DDR4 3200 with that CPU. While the board supports XMP, because the processor is locked it can't be overclocked, and in some cases with ram that speed it needs a tiny overclock or voltage bump to be stable.

Generally you are safer with DDR4 3000 in which case I'd suggest

Alright, I found the same model a bit cheaper on Amazon. I also found the Motherboard on Amazon as well, and you said its going to be able to support that RAM? If so, then all I would need is a CPU, fans, and thermal cooling / paste right?

Well you have the CPU right? Yes the RAM is supported.

If you're going to re-use the stock cooler you have you'll need thermal paste. I would be concerned as sometimes those are proprietary to the motherboard, need to check the mounting. If it won't fit then you'll need to buy a new cooler, good ones can be had for under $40

The case has a fan, you can add more if you want.

I meant PSU, sorry. I have the CPU from the Inspirion, yes.

I have a USB 801.n/g/b/ac adapter for my computer, do I still need to go out and get a wifi card anyways, or can I just use that? Or am I able to use the Inspirion's default one?

Anyways, for fans, I planned on getting this as a cooler. Plus some fans including 2 140s, a 200, and a 120.
Basically, in the end, it should look like this:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qJ8s9W

I don't think I'm missing anything. I still need to order the motherboard, PSU, RAM, paste, thermal cooling, and maybe the fans, idk. It said its all compatable, but I cant help but think I'm missing something else. Thank you though, you've been a ton of help!

So thats all compatible.

Don't buy the thermal paste, the cooler you are buying comes with paste (it may even be pre-applied I forget on that one) which is just as good.

I'm assuming you want to put the Red LED fan in front to replace the stock fan and give you that effect. I comes with a rear fan as well so unless you really want that orange Cougar you don't need it. The two other fans will fit on top.

The USB Wifi adapter will work fine.

I don't want to buy a fan if I don't need it, so unless I don't, I won't need the red LED fan. I'll only need the 2 "Fractal Design" fans then.
If I understand what you're saying, I don't need to get another WiFi card because I already have the USB, right?
If thats the case, then I think that should be it actually.

Thank you so much.

Right, the case includes front and rear fans, which you can replace if you want, but you don't need to.

You can add the 2 140mm fans to exhaust out the top. You don't need to to be honest. the fans the case has should be enough. you can always add 2 more later.

And yeah your USB WiFi should be fine.

Been along while, but I wanted to ask if you knew anyone who would have expertise on how to open the PC case and remove the CPU? I took out the screws but it seems to be resistant.

Bigger problem! I fixed what happened earlier, but I can't screw in the PSU I bought. It didnt come with any and the Full Tower ATX Enthoo Pro case doesn't seem to have screws that fit. Any help, or should I just press on?

And now I've run into a roadblock I'm very worried about. I can't get the CPU off of the board it was on in the Inspirion. There is no lever / case for it, its just... there.

Uhm....

That is not a CPU. Thats your GPU. Its clearly on a PCIe card.

Can you send me a bigger picture of whats inside your system?

Are you sure? Every PSU (even cheap junk ones) I've ever purchased came with 4 little phillips/hex cap screws, and every case I've ever bought also came with screws. If not i'd say head to your nearest computer shop they should have them.

----. You're right, you saved my life. I know where the CPU is now, I've realized my error was following a video that changed the GPU and not the CPU, and I guess I just missed all mention. I'll try to get the heat sink and CPU out. I'm certain I can with a correct screwdriver, but seriously man, without you I'd probably be hitting my case with a stick.

I double checked the PSU and it's package and there were no screws. I'll see what I can do about the PSU situation tomorrow but I think that I'll be fine otherwise and install everything else ok. At the moment I think I'm fine, so unless I mess up again, I think I'm good for now. Thanks!

Got it, wasn't aware.

I think I got everything set up correctly. Back to the PSU then with a final question.

I'll bring it into Best Buy or somewhere in order to see if they can find the right screws for it, but the power cable is still a big issue. It's something like this.

More accurately, here's a photo of the one I use for my monitor. I don't know which to buy to prevent the cord from melting while trying to supply power to my PSU and of course the GTX 1080.

Something like this maybe?
