I have the Asus tuf z270 mark 2 motherboard and the Phantom 530 full tower case.

Built my first pc today. Finished everything but it won't turn on. The motherboard and video card lights turn on so they have power but none of the computer fans start (haven't been able to check it on a monitor because my vga to hdmi cable hasn't come in yet). Double checked the placement of the power/reset/led connectors but they were fine. But found a cord that I missed and came with the case and is connected up front. Now I can't find where to plug it in. My guess is I'm either a dummy and/or the pieces are incompatible in some way.

Anyways thought i'd see if any of you guys had some idea of what's wrong before I bring it to a professional Monday.

Don't know if it's the root of the problem but here's a photo of the mysterious cable https://1drv.ms/i/s!ArR0Mm3uHDj2gQSJ3n5K9NFge5ps

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Solution
The only thing I can think of is that it is the molex power connector for the fan hub. I don't know where the fan hub is in the Phantom 530 but it shouldn't be in the front so I am confused as well. It would explain why none of your fans are working though since the fans included in the case probably started out connected to the fan hub.

It CAN be hooked up to your PSU, it doesn't NEED to be. It straight up has a warning label on it telling you to read the manual first.

Musen is right, it's most likely for the fan hub to provide extra power if you want completely max out the fan hub.

The computer may not turn on because it KNOWS there isn't a monitor connected.
Also if you're having to use a VGA to HDMI cable, you need a new monitor.

Did you connect the fan HUB to the motherboard?
is the fan hub completely maxed out with fans connected to it?
Is the CPU cooler fan plugged into the CPU_FAN port on the mobo?
