CPU Idling on Full Load

Hi
My CPU has been acting weird lately. It was constantly overheating leading to constant stutters and painfully low fps. Once when I opened it up while running a wire seemed to block the CPU fan from running. It still kept getting overheated. Someone told me to remove the heatsink and apply a pea sized amount of Mayonnaise on the processor. I did so but now the processor idles at full load at 50-55° C. Also, I just noticed the heatsink fan runs clockwise, is it supposed to work that way? It's a Dual Core E5200

I have seen those lists and it does look funny but it could be used only for an absolute emergency and very short time (few hours) and than it goes bad and becomes insulator making things worse than nothing. Tooth paste can last few hours longer but that's about it. On the other hand, there are just few degrees of difference between different real heat transfer pastes and any is way better than those alternative methods.
