Hi everyone,

I wanted to ask a question about a new MacBook Pro I'm getting but I know it is shipping with Sierra, and the Mac I want to migrate from is running High Sierra.

I'm not sure on the best way to migrate all my data over. Whether to create a user, upgrade to High Sierra and then migrate Mac to Mac or use Time Machine. Will I need to upgrade the OS if I run Time Machine anyway?

I already had a new MacBook Pro but the migration for Mac to Mac went wrong with the new computer's screen going green and rebooting itself at the end. I was also not able to remove the user I created to upgrade the Pro to High Sierra for migration. So I'm worried the same issue will happen with the replacement.

What would you guys recommend I do when I get the new MacBook Pro?

Thank you for taking the time to read my question. Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Solution

Going to high sierra on the new one is the best thing to do and will be the easiest.
