Hello people I have a very strange problem.....My CPU started kind of overheating a month ago by that I mean it sits around 45ish at idle when it was 30-35 a month ago. There is no change in the ambient temp anyway. I`m uploading MSI log file so you can see what I`m talking about(see the temps). And there is a jump to a 100% during gaming and even at idle which causes if gaming to stutter really bad and  the FPS goes down to 10-20 from 90 when not gaming and this happens the cursor lags and stutter I hope you see the point. The strange thing is that when gaming and this happen I press Alt+Tab once to minimize and then again and the 100% usage stops so that`s the only solution I could figure out for the usage problem. For the temps I did reapply thermal paste Noctua NT-H1 literally 5 times and still the same temps. Please helpppppp!
Thank you in advance.

My specs:
MB: Asus Hero Alpha Z170
Ram:Corsair 2x8@3200Mhz
Case:Corsair Air 540(3 intake and 3 exhaust fans)
CPU:Intel 6700k
Cooler:Noctua NH-D15
Video:Zotac GTX 1080 Amp Extreme Edition
PSU: Corsair RMi 750W
2 SSD and 1 HDD

We have a very similar setup. My 6700K is running at...

Try checking in the BIOS and look at the processor settings. I recently bought a ASUS TUF Mark 1 board and had to enable XMP for higher memory speeds and it automatically turned on pre set settings for overclocking everything along with the memory. You can modify it if this is the case.

This sounds an awful lot like a virus or malware as everything was okay prior to this problem starting. Try using Glary Soft and Malware bytes in conjunction...both are free. GlarySoft cleans registry problems and malware bytes looks for hidden crapp..Get back to me when done..

It`s not this for sure I`ve already checked. Thanks anyways

Well I`ve got Malwarebytes and Bitdefender and they are both premium(paid) licences. So I not sure if that could be the case. Thanks. I don`t know it`s very strange issue. And the thing is that it`s only core 7 and 8 that keep high temps(60-70 idle).

I see..I had a similar problem and the registry cleaner on GlarySoft helped. You definatly have an unsual problem. Just a thought, one of my friends had over tightened his CPU cooler which caused intermitent problems, the other thought is to check for bent contacts that the CPU sits on, sometimes they get slightly moved and even if they are out of place just slightly the CPU stills works but does cause problems...Sorry I can't suggest anything better...just shooting in the dark at the moment.

I also found this old post answer to someone having a similar problem to you:

' The problem seems to be solved after removing and replacing the processor.

The specific core is no longer showing up high utilization.

Thanks again for helping me out with suggestions.'

I've already checked because that was my first fear to bend the cpu heatspreader or pins but nothing like this. The cooler I have has screw stop to prevent you from overtitening and the pins look fine. Still dead end. Thank for the reply

Well the XMP is on but only for the RAM, I overclocking the CPU manually as follows:
Core voltage - 1.26v
CPU VCCIO - 1.1
CPU System Agent voltage - 1.1
The CPU is running at 4.6 GHz accross all cores.
And the temps before were 30-40 at idle and I've seen them as high as 65 on all cores while very heavy gaming. Now there are 30-40 on all 3 cores and their threads and the last one and it's thread fluctuating to 60 even 70 at idle while at gaming 60-68 at idle for the 3 cores and 77 for the last core and thread.

We have a very similar setup. My 6700K is running at 4.5Ghz but with a higher Vcore 2.9 and my Ram is running XMP at 3000Mhz. You have a great 6700K to get 4.5 at 1.26vcore...With XMP on and ram overclocked to 3000 my overall cpu temps increase, with XMP of and no RAM overclock they lower by 6 to 7 degrees. I think based on your overclock, you are okay at the 30 degrees idle, especially if your ambient temps are anywhere around 25 degrees. My ambient temps are at 13 to 14 degrees here in london with room temps around 17 to 18 degrees, so my idles are very low at the low very 20's.

I still cannot understand why your temps spike. If at load (gaming), you are not exceeding 70 degrees across your CPU then you are okay. I would not worry about individual cores just the total CPU temp reached..Fingers crossed you find a solution..

Yeah it`s very strange I don`t know what to look for already. They were fine but something happened and I don`t know what. At least nothing has burnt out....ahahaha....I`ll write here if something change.
Thanks for the reply buddy.
