Hi. I'm not sure if this question is allowed here, but let me give it a shot. So every time I connect my iPhone 5s to the home WiFi, the online game im playing in my desktop with multiple windows open, gets disconnected! I've checked the phone and there's nothing I can see that might explain this. Please help me I'm desperate. When the phone isn't connected I can play all the online games i want in my PC and even download some stuff, but when the phone is connected all hell breaks loose. TIA.

Solution
Adding another device will more likely complicate the problem than solve it as you now must properly configure two.

You are using two different networks if your gateway (the modem/router) is .0.1 and the new router is .1.1 -- the next to the last octet (number) defines your specific network and you have both 0 and 1.

How did you add the router, what port from the original modem/router did you attach to what port on the new router? Did you set it up as an access point or are both radios still working?

Can't open your pics, I get 404 page not found errors. Best to post somewhere that others don't need an account like imgur and use their link for outside access.

Sure, the question is allowed. Welcome to the TH forums.

It sounds like the two are using the same IP address (since it always totally disrupts the desktop as soon as it connects, correct?) I would check to insure that they are not and depending on your router you could use reserved dynamic or static addresses if necessary, although it would not be the best for the phone use since you take it to other networks.

If you check the IP addresses of each and they are not the same, please post more information on your router, channel used, and computer wireless adapter model.

Hey, RealBeast,

Thanks for answering. Please pardon my late reply as I was really busy with some important stuff. I'll try checking if the two devices have the same IP address... [strike]but sadly am not sure how to do so. Please help again[/strike]. Will let you know what happens. Thanks!

Hey, RealBeast,

Apologies. I think I your previous answer was not really the correct one: I only thought so. I'm very sorry. I tried making the phone and ipad use static IP addresses, but the results were still the same; although at first it seemed to work, but now the same thing's happening still.

Here's a screenshot of the devices connected. I turned off my ipad cos my games will get DC'd.

Sorry I've no idea how to post a pic here.

As for my channel, the modem uses 192.168.1.1, while my router uses 192.168.0.1.

The pic above is the settings for my modem, which originally was the wireless router. I added a new router, which supposedly could conrol the bandwith, but had the same results.

The routers model is a Tenda.

The static IP ad i used for my phone was 192.168.0.151 and initially it worked, but the results were the same the following day. I also used static on my ipad using addresses .0.160-200 but still the same.

I hope you can enlighten me. Thank you so much!
