Need help about fast vsync!

HI..i have a question..
ok so the refresh rate of my monitor is 60hz and in some games i get 60 above frames while i get less than 60 in some games...and yea i get screen tearing when vsync is off.So i googled and found out that adaptive vsync can be the solution for me.I tried but i didnt work(still the tearing)..then i tried fast vsync and it worked..the tearing was gone(tried only in gta v).But isnt fast sync supposed to work only if your fps are 2x your monitors refresh rae?..i get 40 to 50 fps in gta v and refresh rate of my monitor is 60hz but still fast sync worked for me.The question is that how was this possible and which vsync should i use if not the fast vsync.

Adaptive sync will turn vsync on and off depending on your monitor refresh rates. For 60hz monitor that mean vsync is turned on above 60fps (to prevent tearing) and turn off below 60fps (to improve latency). But the thing is screen tearing still happen without v sync even when the frame rate is below monitor refresh rates. But the tearing might not as bad as the one that happen above monitor refresh rates.

About fast sync i dont know the fine details about it but it was supposed to prevent screen tearing at all situation without the draw back of input latency that usually associated with v-sync. But the gpu will still going to work as hard as it can like when vsync is turned off. From what i heard this is most effective when the frame...
