I recently purchased an unlocked Motorola Moto E cell phone from Amazon. When I call my landline phone from the Moto and try to leave a message on the answering machine, my new Moto appears to be leaving a message in a foreign language. Why is this? Could this new Moto be refurbished? Can I check anything in the settings? Thanks, Bruce

Not aware of any answering machines that do translation but it could be that your answering machine is responding with some pre-recording foreign language setting.

Also doubt that the Moto cell phone would be or is doing some language translation.

Yes work through the Moto's settings but check the answering machine as well.

If you do not have the respective User Guides/Manuals then search online. Sometimes configuration settings are not obvious or "user friendly" and it is all to easy to overlook some relevant setting.

Try some experiments.

Use another cell phone (Moto if possible) to call your landline phone and leave a message on the answering machine. Listen to see if that message is also in the "foreign language".

Call someone else's answering machine and see if they get left a message in a "foreign language".

Leave voice messages on someone else's cell phone. Same idea.

Narrow down the source of the problem.
