I'm looking for a good motherboard and ram to pair with the ryzen 5 1600. There are a lot of options and the guide on this website seems to be a bit outdated.

I do want to overclock and I heard that faster ram really helps out this processor. It will be used for business and some gaming. I am looking for value though as I'm trying not to spend too much.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

G.Skill has recently created a couple of lines of RAM designed specifically for Ryzen.... Flare X and Fortis.

I recently bought the 2400 MHz Flare X RAM for my Ryzen 3 1200 system. It worked flawlessly out of the box.

My Ryzen 7 1700 system uses Corsair Vengeance RAM. I had to play with the timings to get it just right, but it otherwise works well also.

As for a motherboard; what are your requirements? I really like the ASRock AB350 Pro4. It has 3 PWM case fan headers and two M.2 slots. I specifically wanted to boot from a NVMe drive. I recommend this board heartily. But when I went to build a mATX system, I switched to the msi B350 Mortar Arctic. I would have stayed with the ASRock line, but their mATX offering only had one 4-pin case fan header. I have been pleased with the Mortar Arctic as well.
