Motherboard light is on, old psu would turn everything on for a second then turn it off. Got a new one and it only turns on the light. I cant do the paper clip trick because my fan plugs into the motherboard.
Just found out that gpu fans turn on for a second then turn off.

Solution
Try the first two suggestions starting with a BIOS reset using my suggestion on how to reset it... and if necessary follow with a BIOS restore..

Notice that BIOS reset and recovery appear to be the same thing but they're not. Point 3 is the only difference but it can make the difference.

Start with a BIOS Reset and if necessary follow with a BIOS Recovery.

Option A) Bios reset:
1. Remove AC power or turn off the PSU
2. Remove the battery
3. Move the BIOS jumper to pins 2 & 3
4. Press and hold the power button for 60 seconds
5. Wait 10 minutes
6. Revert 1 through 3 and try the computer

Option B) Bios recovery:
1. Remove AC power or turn off the PSU
2. Remove the battery
3. Remove the BIOS jumper
4. Press and hold the power button for 60 seconds
5. Wait 10 minutes
6. Revert 1 through 3 and try the computer

Update: I redid the paperclip trick and the psu fan turned on! Now I think the motherboard is dead, Though I still dont know why it reacts to my old psu. Any ideas?

The BIOS is probably what reacts to your old PSU and with the new PSU it reacts the same with the GPU... in that sense it's consistent and it's not unusual for a corrupted BIOS to turn off the computer besides different PSUs may work differently... so it's very possible its a BIOS corruption issue and the suggested BIOS reset or Recovery may do the trick.

There's no guaratee it will work but the symptoms you describe can be caused by bad motherboard, bad PSU, corrupted BIOS... by now the PSU is excluded so it's either the BIOS or motherboard but turning the computer off is done by the BIOS while bad motherboards don't normally show any activity... so it's more likely to be the BIOS, and the suggestions are easy and quick so do them before giving up and declaring the motherboard dead.

Well if the BIOS is likely to be broken or corrupt, what do I do?
