Hey this is my first post to any forum.
I appreciate your time for reading this long story.

I have been trying to help upgrading my friend's desktop PC. Last saturday I suggested him some new components to order from 1 seller.
As the components arrived, on Thursday I assembled those new parts and took the old parts out. I tried to boot and failed, tried and failed again about 50 times until friday night with various of errors randomly. Here are the errors, remember these errors happened randomly and many times except number 1:
  1. EZ debug led stop at CPU, fixed this by resetting CMOS. Only happened once.
  2. EZ debug led stop at RAM, no POST.
  3. EZ debug led stop at VGA, no POST.
  4. EZ debug led stop at boot, no POST.
  5. Boot successful and I entered BIOS to check the ram and processor and they're detected without error, but after rebooting to get to windows it showed random error again.
  6. Boot successful and showed windows automatic repair then end up with errors. I thought this is normal as the hardware changed.
  7. So I tried to boot with a USB contain win 10 installation to reinstall the windows. But it shows error "The file is possibly corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum".
First I thought it's corrupted usb but I tried reformatted it again and same error happened. The installation is for legacy bios, as the hdd format is mbr.

The old PC specs are:
  • Gigabyte Mobo
  • Intel Dual Core
  • 4 gb ddr3 ram
  • AMacrox Warrior 80Plus 400W PSU
  • 1 system fan
  • ATI HD5670 1gb ddr3 128bit pci-e 16 vga card
  • WD Caviar Green 750gb (windows 10 installed)
  • razer keyboard and mouse, webcam and additional speaker.

The new (replacing old parts):
  • AMD Ryzen 3 1200 with stock cooler and thermal paste
  • MSI A3200M (MS-7A39) Grenade Mobo
  • Corsair 1x8gb ddr4 2133 MHz (CMV8GX4M1A2133C15)

Other things I have tried:
  • Boot without webcam and speaker.
  • Reseating the processor, gpu, ram(changes slots too).
  • Take mobo out and put it in again to make sure everything connected properly.
  • Ask the seller by phone, he told me that I should get 1 additional ram cause ryzen badly support only 1 stick ram, and get new vga (minimum radeon rx series) as ryzen wouldn't support hd series.
  • Search for many forums but found no exact explanation that ryzen won't support only 1 ram stick and vga of hd series.
  • Checked pcpartpicker and found components are compatible. Here's the link https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RqsTGf

So my question is:
  1. What is this PC problem and what should I do? Buy new vga, ram, both or can I do anything else?
  2. Is my usb windows installer corrupted or is that because of ram issue?

Note:
  • PC works well before upgrading.
  • All new systems and settings are default.
  • I couldn't get some details of the old mobo, processor or anything by now because I can't just ask my friend, he's only 12 years old and don't really know about PC components. But if you guys need it I can came to his house again.
  • We can't return the ram if it doesn't supported by ryzen or the mobo because I buy it online. If I should do anything about ram, it's probably buy 1 new stick or sell this 8gb stick and buy 2 stick of 4gb ram.
  • We don't have any other ddr4 ram or vga.
  • We want to still use ryzen and mobo but probably can change ram or vga if we should.
  • Need efficient solutions, can't just buy new vga or ram for speculation.

Any solutions would be appreciated.

Edit:

I tried boot without ram and no beep, just that ez debug ram led turned on.
There's system speaker installed and it only beep once with 1 long and 3 short beeps when I unplugged the vga card as ryzen can't boot without it.

I haven't tried breadboarding yet.

That´s not normal, it would boot itself. Eventually it´s a problem with this CPU installed while updating BIOS. You could try a R5 1500 or get the motherboard to a local shop which could update your motherboard with another CPU. After the successful update it should work without problems.

Other option are:
motherboard defective
RAM not compatible or defective
USB flash drive defective

How did you download the A5 BIOS? Was it another system? Maybe that´s corrupted too. Check RAM and HDD on this one.

Did you already reset the BIOS by CLrCMOS jumper?
After clrcmos try updating the BIOS again to A5.

Auto installer for USB is the file
Where are you at now regarding successfully booting to bios ??

Does it post successfully constantly or is it still intermittent ??

There are no hardware compatibilities there at all , system should post fine.

You absolutely 100% do need to do a complete fresh install of windows with completely fresh partition structure though.

I didn't came to his house since yesterday as I have no more idea to do.
It can POST even at the third or fourth boot(I didn't count it but I remembered it boot and showed windows error a few minutes after assembling), but not constantly and it only happened about 5 times after all attempts.
You mean "There are no hardware incompatibilities there at all , system should post fine."?
So you suspect there is a hdd problems?

I have tried your solution before, but I checked the PC about 30 minutes ago to make sure and here's the result as I remember:
1st boot with hdd and 2nd to 5th boot without hdd: debug led stuck at ram. No post
6th boot without any sata cables(dvd drive and front panel usb also removed): debug led stuck at ram. No post
7th boot: debug led stop at vga. No post
8th boot: debug led stop at boot. No post
9th boot: post successful, entered bios. Everything's normal, reset config to default then I tried enabling windows 10 whql support > save config and exit. Then I connected the hdd.
10th boot: debug led stop at ram
11th - 13th boot: debug led stop at vga and I heard 1 long beep and 2 short beeps. Removed hdd again
14th boot: led stop at ram and no post

Removing hdd doesn't affect system to post constantly.

I thought it's maybe the psu, it's 400w and it shows that max combination power only 336w. Could this be the problem?
I also thought it's bad vga.

Any other solutions? Thanks for replying

1 long , 2 short is generally GPU error.
However the ram could be causing this.

As I said there are no actual incompatibilities , system should post.

All I can suggest is ensure both ram & GPU are inserted fully.

Meaning full open both ram clips , push the ram down firmly so the the clips flick back & lock themselves.

Vice versa the gpu , open the pci express lock on the end of the slot.

Push the GPU in firmly it should lock itself.

If you have to manually lock either ram or GPU it means that are not fully inserted.

Sorry late reply, I checked the PC again and make sure ram and vga card properly inserted few hours ago. Here's the result
1st boot: debug led stop at ram
2nd boot: led at vga, beep 1 long 2 short, led back to cpu then stopped at ram
3rd: Screen showed "there is no GOP (Graphic Output Protocol) support detected in this card. 'Win 8.1/10 feature' setting in BIOS will be changed to disabled. I pressed ctrl+alt+del and then
4th boot: get to bios > exit, system stuck at bios(couldn't reboot)
5th boot: blank display
6th -7th boot: led stop at ram
8th boot: bios asked for password
9th boot: reset cmos, led stop at ram
10th boot: get to bios, exit
11th boot: Blank display
12th boot: led stop at ram

I found that two of the vga card gold contact pins on my video card are cut.

What else do you suggest? I'm still thinking of buying new ram or vga, but what first?

Thanks

The BIOS version shown is E7A39AMS.A20
BIOS build date 04/28/2017

Need update or not?
I checked to msi site and found some newer versions, if I have to update, should I flash it from the oldest or only from the newest?

Thanks

What's the current bios version? A20?
Thought the larger number means it's the newer.

I'll try update bios tomorrow.

Yeah sorry that's typo, thanks for correcting. It's A320M Grenade.

Will updating BIOS void the board manufacturer/seller warranty? I never did it before

Sucessfully updated to vA4 because the extracted vA5 file corrupt. System mostly could post constantly, but still couldn't get to windows on hdd or install using my usb with various of errors.
The errors are blank screen, stuck at bios, the file header checksum does not match the computed checksum, file corrupted.
It couldn't post sometimes so i reextracted the vA5 bios then updated again. After updated successfully, system post less than the vA4, mostly just debug led blink at cpu and ram then gone, fan still spinning, no post/display. But the post still more than before bios update.
I tried boot with usb only without hdd, error is "The file is possibly corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum"

Updating bios increase number of successful post almost constantly.

Is this mainboard, ram, gpu or anything else issue? Please give me some more advice. Thanks
I take hdd and gpu with me to test with my pc because only those parts that I can test. I will test tomorrow

I didn't see bios finish updating from a2 to a4 or a4 to a5, when bios updating at 90%++, it reboot and pc didn't post about 8 minutes. So I reboot it manually and saw the bios version is updated.
Is this normal, reboot manually after updating bios?

About memtest, which file should I download? Bootable iso or auto installer for usb?
Thanks

Downloaded bios package with other windows pc, then copy and extract to my another usb, not the one that contains windows installation.
What do you mean check hdd and ram on this one?
Maybe this isn't the gpu problem, checked with my pc and worked fine.
Is it fine if I try these step in one after the other?
1. Clear cmos and try update bios again
2. Check ram with memtest
3. Get new mainboard from warranty. How could I prove to seller if the mainboard is defective?

Will try tomorrow. Haven't checked hdd in my pc yet
