Hi, this is my first PC Build. I'm trying to create a video editing (mainly Premiere Pro & After Effects) machine with a limited budget. What I picked so far:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-7700K
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master MasterAir 4
    Graphics: Asus GTX 1060 3GB
    Motherboard: MSI H270-M3 Gaming Motherboard
    Memory: 2x HyperX Fury 16GB DDR4-2400 (Total 32GB)
SSD: Kingston HyperX Predator 240GB M2 SSD PCIE Gen2 (SHPM2280P2/240G)
HDD: 2x Seagate BarraCuda Compute 1TB (Total 2TB)
Are there any incompatible parts?
I also need help for choosing a good yet cheap case and power supply (budget: around 130$). Any suggestions?
If there are any recommendations like changing something or adding something please tell me.
Thanks in advance.

Solution
1. A possible source of incompatibility is the ram. Buying two separate kits is not guaranteed to work.
You want to buy a single 32gb kit.
Go to the Kingston ram selection app and enter your motherboard.
You will get a list of supported ram kits.

2. In a good case, a tower type air cooler with a 120mm fan will do the job.
I might suggest that a $35 scythe kotetsu will do a better job for you.

3. Buy a Samsung 960 m.2 pcie 240gb ssd. it is faster and cheaper.

4. Consider wd for the hard drives.
Here is a nice article on the wd rainbow:

5. for a case, how about this Silverstone...

Cooling won't be an issue when 5 fans can be installed. It comes with 3(2 120mm LED on the front and 1 120mm fan on the rear). It has ample space for cable management. It can easily accept your cooler.

When I think of the 7700K I think heat. I mean the internal TIM is so very poor and has earned that chip a bad reputation where heat is concerned. I then think of the K which suggests the user will eventually OC. Even MORE heat. That needs a pretty serious cooler. I look to your cooler and think about https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099. They both have 4 heat-pipes and aluminum fins with one fan. Why the price difference. The 212 has a 180W TDP. That means it can handle the 700K. I see no reason to go for the knock off, that's more expensive:heink:. You can then purchase a second 120mm fan and use the hardware Cooler Master includes and install it on the other side of the cooler. Yep, I recommend that route due to the 7700K's heat issue.

I own the Titan and the 212. It has 7 fans. Wait, what? I just said 5 fans earlier. The two fans on my Evo?

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139147 will power everything in your editing rig including a GFX card(up to the 1080). It's a very well designed and received PSU. Check out business and personal reviews. It's the latest 2017 model. The older green model wasn't that impressive.

You're not a gamer so I won't suggest the 6GB Asus Turbo model. Those two programs are pretty much CPU bound. They can utilize GPU acceleration(Pro more than AE) but nothing that will exceed the card's VRAM limit.

FD2Raptor

Admirable

All should works fine, although depends on how much does that HyperX Predator cost, there maybe other options.

You do not need to swap away from the MasterAir 4 unless it's significantly more expensive than Cryorig H7 or Deepcool Gammax 400, etc. The H7 is a bit better than the evo, but a bit behind the 212X while the Masterair 4 should deliver ~8-10°C better cooling performance with the 7700k stock than either the 212 versions.

For PSU, depends on your local availability, look for Seasonic S12II/M12II, Andyson M5+, Super Flower Leadex Silver, Corsair CXM (grayish label, avoid the yellow/green labeled) at roughly 500-550W; those are the best budget option. But do note that the well-reviewed Corsair CXM is the 2015 version; the 2017 non-modular version is actually just a slight modification of the old green/yellow label CX model and that they are two totally different platform and should never be construed as one and the same.

There are too many cases that it's really difficult to tell which case will be the best price-to-cooling-performance/features for you. We need to know more than just "limited budget" and "$130" because price and availability may vary greatly depends on where you are.
