CPU temp spikes (OC)

Ok so I decided to overclock my cpu from 3.4 ghz to 3.65 and now the temp is spiking at idle. Sometimes its at 25 and it goes to 30 which is normal but sometimes it goes from 30 to 42c which I don't see normally.

Is this just because of overclocking and not a problem or should I be more concerned?

CPU: Ryzen 7 1700x
GPU: 1080 8GB (ASUS)
PSU: EVGA G2 650w
MOBO: Crosshair vi hero (non wifi)
-BIOs may not be fully up to date as I couldn't update it
RAM: 16GB Dominator Platinum
CPU Cooler Kraken x62 rev-02 (AIO)

i have the same with ryzen 5 1600 stock. program shows 27c and 1 second later it shows 40c for example. i think it's a bug because i think that is not possible to gain temperature so fast.

yeah that would make sense, because 27 to 42 is a big jump, probably the program just misreading

But actually it's weird because when the temp jumps the fans speed up, so do the fans depend on the mobo reading or their own thermometer

that's also true but once I just booted up PC, turned on HWiNFO and left PC for 1 hour. and there was 1-2 spikes to 40c for no reason when average temp. was 28c. so i don't know what to think about it. Probably the problem is that was my first builded pc by my own and it took me some time to launch pc after i set paste on cpu. but when it's on load temps are fine.

Well as long as you installed the heat sync right after you applied the thermal paste you should be fine and it shouldn't be affecting cooling.

Completely normal. There will be slightly elevated spikes due to the increased power(and heat) that the OC imparts via higher clocks, or some such thing. I can be sitting here answering this question but I have 30 other processes that also need attention. There are logs that need to be written. There are so many things happening behind the curtain that can easily boost your CPU temp. momentarily. Hw Info, HwMonitor, Speccy and CPUid are some monitors that can be used concurrently(word for the day). Seeing the temps. across a few monitors can eliminate guesswork as far as temps. are concerned. Is this one program buggy? Use 2 or 3 at the same time and compare. You will have your answer, hopefully.

I look to the minimum CPU temps and they are confirmed. It is possible and is not a bug. It was a cold winter day and I had the window open so it was freezing.
