Good wifi capable power meter

Solution
Two different devices.

The first is a wireless switch to turn on devices using a smartphone.

The second is a simple power monitor for the device plugged into it. (Much the same as a Kill a Watt meter listed further down.)

I have a Kill a Watt and it mostly just sits in a drawer nowadays. Rarely need to measure any power consumption.

The Edimax Smart Plug may be more useful if you wish to control the power on/off via your smartphone or the other listed devices.
