I want to enable USB 3.0 on my old laptop. I have a dvd reader and I know it can be swapped with a HDD via caddy. So, why not use SATA port as USB 3.0? 3gbs connection of a SATA III I have is perfect compared to slow speeds of USB 2. I tried googling but all I find are adapters that enable HDD's or SSD's to connect to a USB port, but as I stated, I need it reverse so I can plug in USB 3.0 in the SATA port, as I only have physical USB 2.0 ports.
I am aware that USB 3 is now something like 3.1 and not 3.0.

No, there doesn't and there isn't.

SATA and USB are different. USB can accept SATA because of its nature, its a universal bus that can be configured through adapters to accept many signals. SATA on the other hand is specifically for drives, and can only accept one type of signal, USB is just too different, or I should say accepts too many different signals.

Thats just not how SATA and USB work. The speed of the connection is only one part of the equation, on the system side it needs to be able to read the USB 3.0 signal. SATA ports are just plain handled differently by the system backend than a USB port.

But there has to be an adapter or something for this.
