Ok, So I've heard about the 1070 vs 2x780tis, but they're so cheap individualy on ebay, one is £120. So im ready for a few consequences but pushing everything about my budget pc is what i always want to do. So really its 2x780tis or a 1060 or maybe a used r9 fury/390x (in terms of price). The popularity is stolen by newer cards, and people seem faithful in them but i sacrafice so much performance to follow a trend i dont like where they've lowered rendering abilities, colour, texture. So arguing the visuals are better isn't quite right even with less vram the 780ti has better architecture although not in spec (u can see this on nvidea's page). Help on preference.

Due to the inherent problems with SLI, (temps, power requirements, heat, complications in setup, lack of support in some games, microstutter, etc.) I would never recommend an SLI setup over a single.more powerful card. I wouldn't go SLI just to say I have an SLI setup.

Hi less interested in your personal side to it. Heat not a problem my system is watercooled. Complications ive already said are not a bother, some games i except will be a lot slower but the ones im interested in really let the cards excel (bf4/bf1 and hopefully destiny 2). And a 1060 alone has a 3dmark lower, so why not?

Hey, I was just listing the downsides of going SLI. If you are aware of them, and still want to spend your money that way, then go for it, after all it is YOUR money! IMHO, SLI is more trouble than it is worth. YMMV!

What sli setup do you have? thanks for the advice up to now. Everyone seems posative about 2x780ti's who owns them. Im ready for the hassle. Ive drilled 16 holes, used a disk grinder and made a reservoir mount out of spare screws and paper clips. This pc is incredibly budgeted. Im spec obsessed, so ive stuffed 2 hex cores, a z800 motherboard, 16gb ram, and full custom water cooling in a standard atx case. Its mostly held together with electric tape and the rare screw... Somehow it works. So after doing all of this, i really want the best performance graphic cards for under £250. I have 2x16 + 1x8 (16x in size) and want to take advantage of this. The alternative is likely a 1060 which im really trying to avoid.

As you may have guessed from my previous posting in this thread, I don't have an SLI setup, for the reasons listed.:D
It seems to me that you have already gone through a significant hassle getting your build together so far, what's a little more to set up SLI?

As far as people being happy with the performance of their SLI'd 780tis, I would expect no less. If I had gone through the expense and hassle of installing an SLI setup, I certainly wouldn't complain about its shortcomings, at least not on a public forum. :/

As your original post asked for help on preference, That is all that I was expressing, MY preference. Since it seems that you have already made up your mind, I wish you much success for this build!

Im becoming more lenient to a single card, a 980ti recently whent on ebay for £300... Seems cheap and beats a 1060. Id actually prefer it to a 1070, particularly the jetstream edition from palit. Because of bit coin miners and brexit in the UK, graphic cards are more expensive. Im becoming reliant on cheap auctions :) . Thanks.
