I have home internet (which is through TV cable lines). I also have (on the same wall plate), RJ45 jacks. And there's a few of them around my house.
I would be awesome if I could use those as access points as sometime my Wi-Fi gets spotty when streaming video from my Plex server.

Is there any way to plug my modem/router into the rj45 jack - and have that "connect" all the jacks in my house?

I originally though there would be a panel or closet with all the ethernet cables coming in (obviously to plug into a modem), but I can't find anything like that. So i'm assuming it's just connecting all the jacks with eachother?

I don't have any spare cables or I would just try this - was curious if this sounds possible - before I go buy a bunch of gear.

For the jacks to work throughout the house, they need to be attached to some sort of patch panel or switch. Then you could connect your router, via a jack, to the others.
