I have a SanDisk SSD Plus 480GB Solid State Drive. I did not buy an external case, just a cable to connect the drive to a USB port. The drive does not show up in File Explorer. I do hear the musical notes when I detach it, signifying that something has been detached.

Do I have to do something to get this drive to show up in File Explorer?

Also: there is some kind of bug in the forum software. Could not post under an email address/UserID/password - would not let me log in - would not give an error message. Just kept asking me to login. Tried Chrome/Opera/Edge - same results. Actually, there also was a situation on one browser in the beginning where it would not re-ask me to login. Just would not login and take me to the forum and show me as not logged in.

Yeah, that fixed it. Thanks. In fact, Disk Management popped up a dialog box as soon as I started it up telling me that "drive 2" needed some kind of attention (it may have said formatting).

The cable is a StarTech USB 3.0 to 2.5" SATA III Hard Drive Adapter w/UASP - SATA to USB 3.0 Converter for SSD/HDD
