i5-3570k vs i7-2600k

I currently have a i5-3570k. Looking to upgrade to an i7 due to the constant cpu hogging by BF1 on my i5. I can't afford to buy a new motherboard, i7 and DDR4 RAM so I am looking at upgrading to a 1155 i7, which is the same socket on my current mobo. There are quite a few 2600ks floating around for sale so this would likely be the one I'd end up with if its worth it. Would it improve cpu usage at all for BF1?

16GB DDR3 RAM 1600mhz
GeForce GTX980ti
120gb SSD + various hard drives

Don't do that, it is almost no improvement from 3570k to 2600k ! What is your budget? Living in US?

No I live in New Zealand. I know all the benchmarks say the 3570k is still a good CPU but every time I play BF1 the usage is always maxed out at 100% no matter what I do. I have a 2560x1080 ultrawide monitor too if it helps

Best upgrade is keep pushing your CPU assuming you have a OCable MB and you have already done OCing. See http://www.overclock.net/t/1629188/i5-3570k-overclocking-limit
Someone claimed they OC to 5GHz... What about your GPU usage?

Yes I have already OCd to 4.2 ghz, it is stable and the game doesn't crash, but I will take some screenshots of gpu usage and etc and post them here

What cooler do you have? If it is good cooling, try oc more

I have i7 2600k clocked at 4.5Ghz, BF 1 64 player maxes out my i7 also, giving minimum of 90 fps with gtx 980ti and 144hz 1440p display on ultra

Itll lower cpu usage in general but it wont actually improve performance much (if at all)

Itll be a straight placebo effect & wont really be a worthwhile move imo.

Not true, i7 gives more fps on gtx980ti, as I said, it maxes usage even on overclocked i7, fps increases around 20-30

This is what I have, I didn't want to spend more than about $200-250 NZD hence the reason I was looking at 1155 i7s

For your budget, no meaningful CPU upgrade. Get a better cooler and OC your CPU

Could mean 10-20 FPS and even more increase with 4.5GHz

Yeah what I'm trying now is moving the resolution scale above 100% to force the GPU usage more, I'll see how that goes. Because when my cpu is maxed, the gpu usage never goes above 50% otherwise

This seems to work much better, although cpu still maxed at 100. Getting 60-80 fps. Sometimes drops below 60
