I found this old asus motherboard that no one really uses so I tried to fire it up and see if it still works. Tried i5 2500k and single ram. On one ram slot it turns on but doesn't boot or beep. On the other slot it boots but display is messy with bunch of artifacs. Then I checked the processor slot and notice it is kinda dirty. Some tips ain't that shiny like the others.

Are the dirty pins causing the artifact and bad ram slot or I'm dealing with bad caps or other motherboard components? What is the best way to clean the pina without bending them. I tested the board with a dedicated video card and display is fine.

Update: I manage to fix the display by cleaning the top right middle pin with niddle but break 2 of them in half so I pulled it slowly higher. DIMM1 still isn't working.

it is a dead slot but overall it is a working motherboard. Artifact display did reapear but I use a heatgun to clean the socket by heating it up for good 1 minute apparently cleaned most of dust out then inserting the CPU totally removed the remaining remnants on the tip of the pins and works fine. I can still use this for backup to test component in case the motherboard on my main rig decides to retire unexpectedly.

I found another motherboard though. I turns on but continuous short beeping for 5 seconds then restarts no post. I search but some says its a PSU problem but tried bunch of PSU on it but still the same. Then some say its a memory error and it does beep regardless if I have the memory on or not in any slot. :S
