Hello can somebody help me with my problem? I got a Seagate external hardrive which I am using for about 5 months now then all of a sudden when I plug it in to my computer it does not get recognized and the lights are off. When I right click on the "safely remove hardware" icon the name of detected device was "BACKUP +" instead of the official seagate device name. I tried several troubleshooting basics I found over the internet and also use the manufacturer's diagnostic tool but none of them works. Please help me to solve this problem, I can't afford to lose the data I have inside this drive. Thanks in advance.

First: remember that anything you do may cause further data loss or damage. There is always some risks with such things.

What Operating System are you using and what backup software are you using? Any recent updates or other system changes just before or at the time the problem started.

Have you tried another known working USB cable? Did you try any other USB ports on your computer. Are you sure that the drive's power supply is working?

Is the Seagate drive recognized on any other computers?

If you have Windows 10 try the built-in troubleshooting tools vial "WIN" + "I" > Update & security > Troubleshoot
