Half dead CPU?

Hi, a couple of weeks ago, my CPU fan started go bezerk. It is revup much more and more often than it used to do earlier. When I play a game it is constant on max! Can the CPU be half dead? Mine got two cores, at least when it was new!

depending on how old your computer is, the thermal paste between the cpu and heatsink might have dried up. Get new thermal paste, remove and clean the heatsink. Then re-apply the new paste and clean heatsink.

Dead on! First of all; the fan was upside down and there was a lot of dust, secondly; the termal paste was dried out and allmost gone!
Sounds like new now, thanks!
