I've been given a Core i7-4790 processor, 16GB of DDR3 1600mhz, and a GTX 760 card. I'm not trying to build anything crazy, just trying to build with what I already have. My current system is a build from 2009 and could use some sprucing up. I can reuse the current case that I have (NZXT Tempest ATX Mid-Tower Case). So I'm looking for suggestions on a motherboard and PSU that should complete this little budget build. Best bang for your bucks so to speak....would appreciate any help. Thanks in advanced!

Solution
Normally they don't write it on the box... Ask the retailer if they know. Also check with any pc shops if they can help upgrade BIOS for some small fees. If so, get a cheap H81 mb is good enough.

Yeah my current cpu running is a Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650. So there's no way to tell if a B85 board needs flashing or not huh? Thanks for everyone's help. Hoping this will get me by for a bit...lol

Good call, I have 4x4.
I also think I can reuse the CPU cooler too...currently its a 775 socket.

Stick with the z97 board mentioned , the 4790 is still a great CPU , it would be a shame to pick a substandard board & not get then most from it

Regarding the cpu cooler , is it a stock Intel one ??

If so it's unlikely to be good enough for the i7.

Cooler Master Hyper 101 RR-H101-22FK-RI
It's being used on my current machine.
Cooler specs handling 95 w, the i7 specs as 84 w. So I should be good....right? lol
