I'm trying to make a remote control for my computer. Now I have the remote and connected powerswitch done, but I need to set up my BIOS correctly.

For the record, I am using a Asus Rog Maximus VIII motherboard.
I went into the BIOS, and found the Power Management section (APM)
I set the "After AC outtage" option to "Power on" and saved.

It works as long as the power is cut off (like a power outtage) - but if I shut down my computer from the windows menu, and cut off the power when its shut down, I cannot turn it on with the remote.

Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Solution
Sounds like a remote control outlet...

When the motherboard says "After AC outage", it means an outage that stops the computer. If it was already turned off, there would be no change from the loss of power, therefore the motherboard simply doesn't care.

I have a similar system, though I don't generally shut down, I use sleep before killing the power, I do not recall my motherbds having the issue when they are shut off and then disconnected from power. I will test tonight to verify. Thanks for the input Weberdarren97
