hi, wold this be a good combo, considering I'll be playing at 1440p (actually 1600p) ?
Also I don't do any kind of video editing, or photoshp, so is there a better combo that can last for a while (i5 7600k is already at 80% utilisation and 8600k is too expensive) ?

The PC I'm planning to build I want to look, good and have RGB, so so far:
Ryzen 5 1600
EVGA GTX 1070 FTW Hybrid
Asus x370-f
Gskill trident Z RGB 2x8 3200mhz cas 14 (better for ryzen apparently)
NZXT Kraken x62
EVGA 750GQ
Phanteks P400 Tempered Glass
I already have the storage, budget is around 1500 USD

Solution
It would be a great combo for 2k gaming. Most of the strain for higher resolutions is placed on the GPU, and having a different CPU would cause minimal performance impact at best. 1070 is considered the sweet spot for 2k gaming. Ryzen 5 1600 is a great CPU.

no, I don't stream, but i'm more concered about how future proof the I5 is, since coffee lake does not support z170 and z270 motherboards, and AMD is planning on reusing the am4 plateform for a couple of generations

Future-proofing is pointless; you'll just reach decision paralysis.

I would consider a 7700k , comepare it how it peformans to the ryzen chips
I actually think the intel chip peformns better than that ryzen u are considering.

Just my piece

ok then, i'll consider it. I might aswell wait for the i7 7700k price to drop a little so I can get it, could be a better choice
