Need suggestions for an i7 7700k build

I've always built AMDs, though have always wanted to build an intel (just haven't had the cash for it). My friend wants me to build him a rig revolving around an i7 7700k and an evga 1080 ti ftw3. I have no idea where to start as far as what would go best with this. I'm so out of the loop with intel it's ridiculous. He's basically just gaming on it. Maybe some Sony Vegas work, but that's it.

Suggestions for motherboard, cooling for the i7, ddr4 RAM and power supply needed for this build would be great. Any other suggestions would be great as well, even a case to house it all. I've used some power supply calculators out there but one told me to use an 850 and another said I'd go over that by a bit so to go with a 1000 but that didn't seem right. Or is it? Money isn't a big issue for him but I doubt he wants to spend insanely amounts. Some future proofing would be ideal but once again, top of the line everything isn't required.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions, I greatly appreciate them.

I7 7700k is not the king any more, meet coffee lake I7-8700k! I recommend the following two builds, one is the best but most expensive, the other is cost-effective with close performance:

I will definitely pass this on to him. He had his heart set on the 7700 k but I had told him there are better out there if he's willing to spend some cash (AMD side as well). Appreciate the quick response. If anyone else has builds they enjoy, please feel free to share them.

Solution
7700K should have some pricing adjustments downward in light of the 8600K's superior performance, in theory; might not happen as it is the 'final destination'/top potential upgrade for all Z170/270 owners...

In any event, I'd try hard for Z370 and at least an 8600K or 8700K if possible...
