Why is the Ryzen 3 1200 better than my Athlon X4 845?

I don't understand why my processor is worse, in gaming, than the ryzen 3 when the Ryzen 3 has overall worse specs from what I see. Someone care to explain?

I've been looking at the specs of them only from pcpartpicker

Yes, it is absolutely superior in every regard.
The specs you are looking at arent the ones that matter.
Core count, clock speed (GHz), cache size are all fine and dandy but they dont directly translate to performance.
The Ryzen 3 has substantially higher individual core strength (IPC) that allows it to boast far superior performance, spread over all cores.
