Solution
1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16)
(The PCIEX16 slot conforms to PCI Express 3.0 standard.)
* To support PCI Express 3.0, you must install an FM2+ APU.

Yes your system will still support it as is.

Are you considering BUYING that APU?

If so, I would not do that. If you for some reason still need the FM2+ socket then get a good CPU (not APU)

The X4-845 or similar is a good choice. Use PCPARTPICKER as a guide.

I would consider RYZEN instead (i.e. R3-1200 or better) though it sounds like a low budget, plus you may have DDR3 memory that won't work on newer motherboards that use DDR4.

*I'm guessing on some of this, but again don't get an APU with a 2-core CPU when adding a dedicated graphics card anyway. Get a CPU with at least four cores (I know the term "core" is debated in these older AMD CPU's).
